MICRPRINT
Inc. / FORMSPRINT are the result of 50 years of vision
and innovative thinking, beginning with Clem and Howard Heath, founders
of Heath Printers and CHEKPRINT, based in Seattle, Washington. Dissatisfied
by the letterpress technology, they were driven by the need to find
a better way. They invented a unique specialty offset press, designed
specifically to print bank checks with MICR encoding. They named their creation
the HEATH Turret Press. That press became the standard in the industry for
producing short runs of both checks and forms that required total reliability
for reading the E13B font through the banks high-speed sorters. Most
major check printing companies wanted to use the Heath Turret Press, so
the Heaths sold CHEKPRINT to one of the check printing companies and focused
all their energies on manufacturing presses.
David Meyers, in his role as manager of the Burroughs Corporation check printing division in the 70s, was one of the first purchasers of the Heath Turret Presses. He used them with great success. In the mid 80s, David joined Clarke Checks to manage their forms division, purchasing a plant in Jeffersonville, where he used Heath presses. In 1989 David moved to Baltimore to manage the forms division for American Bank Stationery, later purchased by Clarke (now named Clarke American). From there, David joined Interchecks Corp. in Seattle as Vice President of Marketing, remaining until Harland bought them in 1992. David recognized that there was a need for a check and forms printer who could realize a competitive advantage over the major check/forms printers. He offered a new philosophy that enabled his bank clients to provide exactly what they wanted, instead of having to accept a printers standard product line.
In 1992, David partnered with Clem and Howard Heath to reenter the printing business utilizing the Heath Turret Presses, creating V-Print. Clients responded favorably to Davids marketing concept of custom-designed checks exclusively yours presented by CHECKSMART; and MICR forms, establishing the right way to order operating forms when you need them marketed through FORMSPRINT.
In 1997 David purchased V-Print from the Heath brothers and renamed the organization MICRPRINT Inc. to better communicate the focus of the company, i.e. to print custom bank checks and forms that require Magnetic Ink Character Recognition encoding. Now twelve years in business, our FORMSPRINT plant prints MICR encoded sortable documents on Heath presses that reliably and consistently meet all ABA specifications. Many of our FORMSPRINT employees had previously worked for Heath / CHEKPRINT, averaging thirty years printing experience each. All MICRPRINT people are accustomed to consistently look for a better way to provide quick turn-around printing of the highest quality, with all orders shipping within 5 days!
Christopher Meyers is the companys Chief Financial Officer and General Manager, and will assume the duties of Chief Operations Officer when his father retires. Having grown up in the printing industry, Chris has the values that made his father succeed - caring about people and supplying the customers needs in an efficient, profitable manner.
